Barbie in the Nutcracker (2001)
Barbie plays Clara, a daydreamer who wishes to lead the kind of adventurous life her dear Aunt Drosselmeyer so often does. She finds it one night on Christmas Eve, when the nutcracker she received as a gift comes alive, and during a heated battle she is magically shrunken in size. Clara and the Nutcracker must go back to his home and find the fabled Sugarplum Princess, both to get her back to normal and to save an enchanted kingdom from the clutches of the evil Mouse King.

Barbie plays the Princess Anneliese, while a brunette counterpart plays a pauper named Erika. Though they have different hair colors, and the princess has a special birthmark, they could easily pass for sisters or twins. Princess Anneliese finds Erika one day after having snuck out of the palace, and is moved by Erika's wonderful singing voice. Both unhappy in their lives -- Anneliese must marry a man she doesn't love, and Erika has to work in a dress shop to pay off her parent's debt -- they quickly become friends. But Erika will really have to test her loyalty when Anneliese is kidnapped by the evil Preminger, who wants to marry the poor blonde, and she must pretend to be her until the real royal is found.
