<---back
Set in the late 1800s and based on actual historical events/people (save for Sei). After young Sei's father and brother are brutally murdered, she decides to disguise herself as a boy named Seizaburo Kamiya and join the Mibu-Roshi (which would later become the Shinsengumi) to avenge them. Quickly placed under the training of Soji Ookita, she finds herself falling for him.
This is the first time I have ever seen doujinshi based on a purely manga series. Meaning, every doujinshi I've found stems from something that has an anime tie-in. It's absolutely beautiful, but can also be quite graphic and dark. If you're looking for a good shoujo romance with a twist, check it out.

TITLE: Snowflakes
GENRE: General, Sei x Soji
CIRCLE: Cutie Doll
SUMMARY: Soji thinks about Sei's mortality in battles, and that a brutal death for her is very possible. There is also some cute and perky sketches of members of the cast.
THOUGHTS: The art style bothered me a little at first, but I can see they were trying to match the original mangaka's style, and it fits. I called this doujinshi "general" and not romance because there isn't any romance (really) - Sei and Soji have a deep friendship, and it's explored well here, but the feelings of love are only felt by Sei (at least in the last volume I read - and she pretty much keeps this strong feeling to herself). So, Cutie Doll kept to this original spirit and didn't mushy-gushy it up, which is fine (^_^)
