Mini Moni was a subgroup of a popular, all-girl group in Japan called Morning Musume. They produced music and appeared in various media such as comics, TV shows and concerts from 2000-2004, when (second) leader Mika Todd left for America to study music. Highly popular during their short span, their style ranged from childish to educational to outrageously zany. TITLE: Bigu Zamu GENRE: General/Gag
CIRCLE: JWF International
SUMMARY: Short gag stories (and some single drawings) featuring the clothes/settings
they wore/used in some of their music videos, movie, and segment on Morning
Musume's TV show where they played Kappas (Japanese water sprites) living
in a fish bowl.
THOUGHTS: Randomly weird and cute. In one story Kappa Tsuji tries to draw a picture,
but, failing, the others try to show her how it's done, only to get into
a fight over it. It's great fun for anyone who likes Mini Moni.
TITLE: Gundam Songs 2
GENRE: General/Gag
CIRCLE: JWF International
SUMMARY:"Songs 2" is a sort of parody of their second album cover. Some
fans refer to this as "Bling Bling Moni," when former leader
Mari left and they abandoned their cutesy kiddish image for a more "adult"
angle. It did not go over well, especially with parents. Short
gag stories (and some single drawings) featuring the clothes/settings
they wore/used in some of their music videos, movie, and TV drama called
Brementown Musicians.
THOUGHTS: As with books with various artists, you are bound to get great, good,
so-so, and "How are you even in here?" artwork. Still, everything
in here is fun (despite the story where someone is groped =_=) and as
perky as one can expect from Mini Moni. It's worth the buy if you're a
fan, and even if you're not.
