Lina Inverse - hot-headed, short, and willing to help out those in need - for a fee, of course! How is a young sorceress supposed to make a living? Traveling with her is a brick-for-brains mercenary named Gourry, a justice-obsessed princess named Amelia, and Zel, a human turned Chimera with an attitude problem and love for coffee.
This is a really fun show that I got into by accident. I can see a lot of Lina in myself, and it's just so kooky and fun! Many shows I collect or want to collect I can only find maybe 4 or 5 of on a good day, but this one always has something available to tempt me. TITLE: School Fight GENRE: General

SUMMARY: Gourry and Lina confront Xellos, more action and adventure. A continuation from School TROUBLE.
THOUGHTS: Have you ever wondered what the Slayers gang would be like if you plopped them into a modern day Japanese high school? You'd probably get something like this! Gourry (ironically) and Xellos, along with other questionable characters, take on the role as teachers, Lina, Amelia, Zel (in his human form!) and Sylphiel are students. The art isn't half-bad, either.
TITLE: School Panic

SUMMARY: Zel tries to declare Gourry his rival for Lina's heart (and Gourry, as always, doesn't understand), and Lina wonders just what her feelings are (or tries to deny them).
THOUGHTS: I give this circle props for realistically using their ages i.e. not sticking them all in the same class and year. It's a little weird seeing Zel without this Chimera skin, but he's still got that attitude.
TITLE: School Trouble
GENRE: General/Gag

SUMMARY: Lina sees Xellos getting into a mysterious car, causing her curiousity to stir.
THOUGHTS: Gone are the talks in the pubs and among the debris of destroyed buildings. Now when they want to have a discussion, it's in a classroom. Like in the series, everybody is out to investigate things, leading to confrontation. You can see Zel and Amelia use what looks like magic here.
TITLE: School Wars

SUMMARY: Lina, who is rushing back to class after sleeping in the nurses office, bumps into Gourry, and really lets him have it for not watching where he was going. After this bad first encounter it is revealed that Gourry is actually a teacher! Lina is not happy, but later has to team up with him when they are "attacked" by people sent by Rezzo (whom I'm assuming is also a teacher). It is revealed that Lina can use magic, and does so, impressing Gourry.
THOUGHTS: First in the School WARS series, I must say it's one of the more entertaining doujinshi I own. I don't really see alternate universe doujinshi that much.
TITLE: Zuuutto Ichiban!

SUMMARY: Lina is getting married... but not to Gourry!
THOUGHTS: I'm having trouble figuring out what's going on. First, Gourry wakes up to Amelia calling his name and they have a discussion about Lina. Later, Lina, who is about to be dressed for her wedding, spots Zel by her window, and they have a short conversation before he leaves. In the end, Lina is about to confess to her would-be husband that she just can't marry him (right there at the altar), when Gourry shows up with her cape, and asks her, in his own subtle way, to come with him. She does. It's very sweet, I just wish I had better understanding of the story.
